Lorraine Cheney Obituary
Lorraine M. Cheney, 95, died peacefully of natural causes January 5, 2017, at her home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She was born August 16, 1921, in Barron, WI, daughter of John C. and Gladys (Cobb) Dahle.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Cheney; two sisters and three brothers.
Lorraine was a longtime resident of New Milford before moving to Ft. Lauderdale to live with her daughter.
She was employed by Warren MacArthur in Bantam, where she made airline cushions during war time in the 1940s. It was there she learned her unique talent with needle and thread that led to another career with Keefe Upholstery.
She was a gifted seamstress, whether it be draperies, boat covers or clothes for herself and her daughter.
She was active in the New Milford United Methodist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the New Milford Senior Center.
Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Linda Rotmil; three granddaughters, Rachel (Mitch) Sandman of Cary, NC, Brooke Rotmil and Lauren Rotmil of Ft. Lauderdale; three great-grandsons, Drake, Jacob and Zachary Sandman of Cary, NC; a great-granddog, Gucci and many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, cooking and baking, sewing skills, friendships, dedication and perseverance. She was impeccable with herself, her home, her yard and everything she touched.
A memorial service will be held in the spring on a date to be announced at the New Milford United Methodist Church in New Milford.

Dear Linda and family, My mom Caroline (Murph) Edwards was a very dear friend of your mom;s. I am so sorry to loose her, but thank God for such a long enjoyable life. I very much hope to attend her memorial service in the spring. My thoughts are with you at this time. Always remember her smile, and giggle.

Although Aunt Lorraine had many siblings, she retained her individuality.....she truly was "one of a kind." She now joins those brothers and sisters for eternity. God bless her.
