Noreen McDermott Obituary

Noreen (Nora) Elizabeth McDermott It is with great sadnessthe McDermott family announce the sudden death of their dear sister, Noreen in Cadiz, Spain where she had lived for the past two years. Noreen was born in New YorkCity on April 3, 1951 and attended Danbury schools. Upon graduation from Immaculate High School, Noreen was accepted into and studied trumpet, piano, and music theory and composition at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music in Spain where she graduated with a Master's Degree. After spending several years playing music professionally on both East and West coasts of the U.S. Noreen attained a law degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Noreen practiced law passionately in several areas, the most recently being in employment law. After years working with several large law firms, Noreen decided to hang her own shingle, McDermott Law, in San Francisco, where she practiced until returning to Spain. Noreen was a vibrant, passionate woman who loved an intellectual challenge, having spent many evening with family and friends discussing politics, science, and other topics. She worked tirelessly to help those who needed representation. Noreen also truly enjoyed learning, spending many hours exploring topics such as music,religion, different cultures, history and women's issues. She also loved to travel, having made trips to Mexico, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. Noreen is survived by: John J. McDermott of Bronx, NY; Patrick H. McDermott and his wife Carol of West Hartford, CT; Michael T. McDermottof New Fairfield, CT; Catherine M. McDonald and husband John of Bethel, CT, andAnne L. McDermott, of NY, NY. Noreen also cherished her nieces and nephews: William, John, and Brian McDermott; Maura and Kate McDermott, and Mairead and Deirdre McDonald. Noreen is predeceased by her parents Dr. John and Elizabeth McDermott and sister in law Mary (Moody) McDermott. A Memorial Service for Noreen will be held Saturday, October 1, at St. Mary Church in Bethel Ct. If you wish to honor her, you may make donations to your favorite charity in Noreen's name.

My deepest sympathy to all of her family,as Liz stated we also went to school together at SPS and IHS.Sad to hear of her passing at this young age.She was a very smart girl and I was not at all surprised to hear of all of her accomplishments in her short life.Sadly ...Sheila

noreen and i started out in kindergarten together at st peter school- we shared many recesses walking around that blacktop- we also shared ihs for 4 years-reading about all she accomplished in her life makes me happy for her-she always had her own idea of things and that made her very special -she was a very unique friend and i am sorry we did not keep in touch after high school -my sincere sympathy to her family- she was much too young to die- elizabeth botelho kuzniewski
