Richard Barnum Obituary

Richard Barnum passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve at Bethel Health Care after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer.

Rich was born on August 16, 1962 at Danbury Hospital and resided in Danbury for his entire life. Rich was predeceased by his parents, George and Elizabeth (Betty) Barnum. Surviving Rich are his 3 brothers: George, John and Jim Barnum plus many other family members who all loved Rich deeply.

Rich touched the lives of many people with his smile and happy disposition. Rich worked for many years at New Heights Catholic Charities on West Street in Danbury with devotion and enthusiasm. His coworkers were an extended family to Rich and he treasured the many friends he made there.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Patrick McNamara from Mental Health CT, his best friend Bob, Ed Cole, plus the staff and Rich's friends at New Heights for their friendship. So many people from New Heights visited Rich often while he was at Bethel Health Care and made his days there more bearable. Thanks also to the staff at Bethel Health Care for their treatment and care of Rich for the past 3 months.

There are no calling hours and the burial will be private. The family is arranging a celebration of Rich's life to be held in the near future at New Heights. Information will be posted there.
