Richard Favier Obituary

Richard W. Favier
Richard W. Favier, age 66, of Southbury, CT (and formerly of Milford CT and Ridgefield, CT passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from complications of Diabetes and Heart Disease. Rick was born on February 5, 1952 in Needham, MA and was a 1970 graduate of Ridgefield High School and Western Connecticut State University. He leaves behind his wife, best friend and soul-mate, Diane (Manning-Mozdzer) Favier, four step daughters, Jennifer Clados (Tasos) of Clinton, CT; Karyn Seaberg (Eric) of Milford, CT; Jodie Gil (Darek) of Seymour, CT; and Tessa Pilkerton (Derek) of Wallingford, CT. He also leaves six grandchildren, Bailey, Niko, Julianna, Mandy, Emma, Evelyn and several nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Rick was known for his sense of humor and his amazing ability to make others feel good about themselves. His kindness was felt by so many and he always made himself available to help in any way needed. If you could only choose one friend to have in this world, Rick was the clear number one choice. Rick was a staunch fan and supporter of the Boston Sports Teams and was a lifetime member of Red Sox Nation. Rick's passion for running was demonstrated by his commitment to road racing throughout New England for over forty years. As one of the founders of the Wolfpit Running Club of Ridgefield in 1977, Rick remained a charter member and club officer for the duration. When Rick was not planning, organizing, or directing races, he was in the midst of the competitors, often finishing in the top ten-percent of his age-group. Some of his numerous accomplishments are: having completed more than 30 marathons including Boston and New York and the Marine Corps Marathon (his favorite), 20 triathlons including two Iron-Man events, many 30K mountain trail runs, especially his favorite, the Escarpment Trail Run in the Catskills, numerous ultra-marathons, and hundreds of other running, swimming, and bicycle competitions for almost 40 years. When not competing, Rick was still immersed in the running community assisting other race directors with their races.
Even though Rick always said he didn't need a big hurrah made when he passed away, those who loved him do. Family and Friends are invited to the Smith Funeral Home 135 Broad Street, Milford, CT on Wednesday, February 5, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. to hug, shed a tear and remember and honor this amazing man. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the Fatima Faith Fund at Our Lady of Fatima School, 225 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897. My deepest sympathy to you Diane and your family. Such sad news.
Rick was the neighborhood good guy! Never hesitating to help anyone in need - many times helping me clear the snow from the sidewalk. He always had a smile and a kind wave.
I will think of you both in the spring, as your Magnolia tree blooms next door.
