Robert Piorkowski Obituary

Piorkowski, Robert B.
Robert Bernard Piorkowski, Jr died Friday, April 22nd.
One of God's Greats has passed on.
There was no more faithful soldier for Christ; through every adversity Bob was a positive ray of light. He touched the heart and soul of every person that he encountered. His genuine compassion and heart for people was immeasurable. Co-owner of The Video House in Bethel for many years. "Big Bob" and Uncle Bob to many he always gave love without measure. This endearing and most beloved man who was unable to walk for over 40 years from a spinal cord injury that occurred in college, is now able to run.
Survived by his loving wife Patti Wirag-Piorkowsi of Bethel; sisters Christine P. Chapman of Bethel, Karen (Thomas) McLaughlin of Virginia and Ann Lyssenko of Chicago; brothers and sisters- in-law John (Deborah) Wirag of New York, Walter (Debbie) Wirag of New York, Elizabeth (William) Grosse of Bridgewater and Carol Piorkowski of Bethel; nieces and nephews Yvonne A. Chapman of Bethel, Kelly McLaughlin of Virginia, Christopher McLaughlin of Virginia, Jessica Humiston of New York, Amanda Wirag of Danbury, Wayne Wirag of New York, John Spencer Wirag of Texas, William Grosse of New Milford, Brian Grosse of Bridgewater, Amy Dexter of New Milford and Matt Jancewicz of Utah.
Predeceased by his parents Robert and Meita Piorkowski of Bethel and his brother John Piorkowski also of Bethel.
The family would like to thank Danbury Hospital and Bethel VNA's dedicated staff and Danbury Ambulance who were like family.
A wake will be held at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Thursday April 28th from 5pm - 8pm, with a prayer service at 7:30pm.

It’s harder to put feelings into words as time passes. Bob left behind beautiful Patty and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly. He was missed then and he is missed now but he is always carried in our hearts and prayers

Time goes by so fast and I guess thats why God blessed us with memories. I will forever keep Bob as well as all of my family tucked safely away in my heart and at times I can feel heartache because I miss them so much but such joy and thankfulness that we were all such a part of one another. My memories are so full of love for Bob and for everyone and I cherish every holiday and every chance we had to be together. Always in my heart and prayers

Such a great man he was. If you think you are having a tough day and a tough life, just think of Bob. No man can be so sweet, kind and compassionate as Bob despite of what he was going through. I will never forget you Bob. It was a great honor to be one of the nurses who knew you. Heaven has gained another angel. You are an inspiration and you will be missed. XOXO

My deepest condolences to Patty and the entire family.....Bob was such an inspirational man whose smile was infectious to anyone he came in contact with. Bob and Patty's love story is one that is better than those on Hollywood screens.....if only others could be as lucky. RIP Bob....we'll see each other once again when my time on this Earth is over...until then, knowing that Heaven has another angel is comforting to those left behind.

Such a good and funny man. My sons and I would go to the Video House to rent videos when they were young. John and Bob gave my oldest son Jack his first job. I always enjoyed Bob's irreverent wit and wonderful sense of humor. Such a loss

So saddened to hear this news. I never saw Bob without a smile on his face. I cannot even begin to recall the many times I stopped into Video House and stayed an extra 5-10 minutes because I stopped to chat with him. Such a wonderful person. One of the biggest things I missed about Bethel after I moved away.

I've learned much about Bob through a common friend. My sympathy is extended to his family and for all who had the true grace of knowing him personally for many years. I know that he touched many hearts. A special man, now in being embraced in the presence of God.

I am so sorry to hear about the death of this amazing young man. I remember him as a student at Bethel High School and remember the terrible event that changed his life forever. However, the one thing that never changed with this man was his amazing and positive attitude. If anyone deserved to be bitter, it was Bob...but that was the last thing anyone saw. He was positive, thoughtful, kind and upbeat. He would help anyone he could and do it in a manner that was unselfish and caring. They talk about heroes....he was truly one of them. Rest in peace, dear man. Love and condolences to your family...

Bob was one of the nicest guys I've ever
known-and a true friend for many years. We both shared a love of music,
and went to see both Fleetwood Mac and Dave Mason(his favorite) in concert. I
read the obit today, and was incredibly
sad-but also grateful to have known this wonderful guy, and his beautiful
family.I know he's in a better place-but I'll never forget his great smile and terrific love of love-even through
the great challenges he always faced with faith and dignity.Rest in Peace
Bobby. Matt
