Roger Munch Obituary

Roger Munch, Jr.
Roger William Munch, 102, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at The Village at Brookfield Common, Brookfield, CT of natural causes. He was born in Sherman, CT, May 22, 1921, the son of Roger W. Munch Sr. and Carolyn Durgy Munch. He was predeceased in 2015 by his devoted wife Catherine and brothers Charles (2012) and Marshall (2006). Roger is survived by a stepson, Russ Mundschenk and his wife Becky, grandsons Eric Mundschenk and David Mundschenk and his wife Alex Casella and several nieces and nephews. He attended Sherman Elementary School, graduating from New Milford High School in 1939. Roger then apprenticed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT, before serving the US Navy in World War II as a Machinist Mate Third Class in San Diego. There, he repaired and maintained the engines of PB4Y bombers that were headed to the Pacific Theater. After the war, Roger attended the University of Bridgeport and later began a lifelong career as a machinist at Heli-Coil Corp. and a sub-division, GAR Precision Products in Danbury, CT. He married Catherine Diamond Mundschenk in 1965.
Memorial services and burial will be private. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. Donations in the memory of Roger W. Munch may be made to the Sherman Senior Center, P.O. Box 261, Sherman, CT 06784.
