Thomas Pepin Obituary

Pepin, Thomas C.
Thomas C. Pepin a lifelong resident of Danbury passed in God's grace at his home on January 18, 2016 surrounded by the family he loved. Many hearts in Danbury share in the loss of Tom, he was 57 years old. Tom was born September 2, 1958 in Danbury, CT, the son of Thomas G. and Margaret (Melvin) Pepin. He is survived by his wife Terese Pepin, one son Evan, his parents Thomas and Margaret Pepin, two sisters and their husbands, Peggy Maffei and her husband Rick, Jean Belansky and her husband Tim, also survived by is his Aunt Dorothy Schaeffer, five nephews Rick, Jesse, Timothy Belansky, Christopher and Philip Maffei , one great nephew and niece Marc and Lyla Belansky. Many loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Also, a mother-in-law Mary Lefebvre and many brothers and sisters-in-law and children of the LeFebvre family…And of course Zeus, his beloved German Shepherd who has not left his side.
As a young boy he accompanied his dad on many jobs and was inspired. At an early age Tom was thrilled to have earned his first tool belt, the rest is history. Tom attended and graduated from Henry Abbott Tech in Danbury, CT. Fueled by a strong work ethic, Tom was also most fortunate and blessed to have been guided as young man by his Uncle Tony as he came up through the Electrical trade, a turning point setting Tom on the path to his life's passion. He worked hard and at a young age in 1981, became the proud owner of Shock Electrical Contractors in Danbury. Tom was most happy sharing his love for electrical work, and thoughtfully went on to guide and mentor his own team of a FEW GOOD MEN at Shock of which he was most proud. He was a tough boss, expected a lot but earned the Love and respect of his team that was expressed so lovingly during his illness, especially over the last few weeks filling his heart with Love and giving him much peace. Having come up through Henry Abbott Tech, Tom was recently inducted into the Wall of Fame by his peers, which was a great honor. Tom deeply respected the relationships he shared throughout the community and enjoyed being a part of many organizations as a result of those relationships through which he could support his community for years to come.
Tom was devoted to his entire family as son, brother, husband and father. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and of course playing golf and sushi nigh with the boys, his "brothers" who have been there to support him and his family giving him a sense of peace. Tom loved to serve his community and helping others was close to Tom's Heart, especially the organization Dream Come True of Western CT which provides dreams to children suffering terminal illness and their families. Having had cancer at 16, Tom never forgot how to support those children for whom he cared deeply. He was a strong supporter for 25 years.
St. Peter Church was an important part of Tom's life and of his family for generations. As a man of deep faith, Tom received great strength in prayer for others and himself which enabled him to overcome his trials and to be guided as a servant to his God, ultimately allowing him the Grace to reach a place of peace. Tom will be sorely missed he has left us with many wonderful memories and shared his wisdom and knowledge, giving so much of himself to support the community, the people he loved. Through recognizing the gifts of his Lord, his hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit, the legacy of his Love will live on.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am at St. Peter Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's Name to Dream Come True of Western Connecticut at www.dreamcometrue.org. Tom, I had the pleasure of knowing you for 39 years. I still remember the first day you started working for my dad at Rizzo electric. I was fortunate enough to be an electrical apprentice working under you and learned a great deal, the rest is history. I admired your work ethic, and love for life, you considered each day a gift and weren't about to waste one. Later in our lives as we grew closer we were fortunate enough to play a lot of golf together, and have endless laughs. There is nothing I wouldn't do for you, nor you for me. I will forever miss our time together and cherish the memories, laughs, and especially stories we shared. I find comfort knowing the pain is gone and you are seated at the right hand of God looking down on all of us. With that said I'll sign off for the last time as we did with every email, text or phone call, "love you my brother"

Our hearts are broken over this great loss, for we have been immeasurably blessed to have Tom as one of our dearest and closest friends. We have a lifetime of fond memories of the crazy times we shared. We absolutely loved Tom's passion for life and were witness to his unwavering devotion to his faith in God. He was truly a kind and generous friend, and indeed a very courageous man to have fought this cancer battle for most of his life. What a truly amazing character he was!

Our love for him goes beyond the grave, it is ETERNAL. We place our faith and hope in the promises of God, that one day, we will be reunited with Tom in the presence of God and oh what a party it will be!

Our deepest sympathy,

Tom was a great guy. Knew him for many years going back to the earliest days of Shock Electric. To Tom's family, I'm very sorry for your loss. Stay strong

Tom Valeri

January 20, 2016

I met Tom in 1981, not long after Walt Belardinelli and I first opened Nautilus of Danbury in the fall of 1980. He had just started Shock Electric and we did as much as we could to promote each other as fledgling Danbury businessmen. After all these years, my business then is but a memory, while the seeds that Tommy planted then, have grown and continue to grow. We recently reconnected for work I was hoping he would take on for Crown Court Condominium Association, which he agreed to and, after so many years, his expressions of gratitude were so sincere and his genuine appreciation for doing business once again with someone he has known for so long, was comforting. People like Tom Pepin, his work ethic and his compassion for others, do not come along that often...not often enough...and, he will be missed.
