Vivian Holmes Obituary
Vivian Claire (Burgess) Holmes, 79, wife of the late Charles E. Holmes, died peacefully, with family at her side, on March 24, 2013.
Vivian was born in Danbury, CT in 1933, daughter of Frank Burgess and Marelda Kent Burgess. She grew up in Holmes, NY but lived most of her life in Danbury. She was a 1951 graduate of Danbury High School and a 1955 graduate of Danbury Teacher's College where she also obtained her Master's degree in education.
Vivian is survived by five children: Gregory Holmes and his wife Lisa of Morris, CT, Glenn Holmes and his wife Andrea of Wappingers Falls, NY, Cheryl Ficara and her husband Robert of Somers, CT, Laura Holmes of Lowell, MA, and Derek Holmes and his wife Barbara, of Boxboro, MA, as well as by 8 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
A graveside service will be held at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, Section 16, Thursday morning at 11:00.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00. Information and online condolences at HullFuneralService.com.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Holmes family. Vivian was a great lady. She and her husband Chuck were wonderful family people who always made us 'kids' feel welcome anytime we visited. Their house was my second home. She will be dearly missed.

Vivian was my childhood friend when she lived on North St. and my family lived next door on Walnut St....she will always be a part of my neighborhood memories...endless summer days, fireworks on July 4th, sitting on our porches in the evenings, playing cards and trying to name the car models as they passed on North Street!Later, in Danbury Teacher's college, I remember Chuck and Vivian at the beginning of their loving years together!
