Alice Lucille (Wallensack) Dunne, 100, of Tonica, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the JPO Retirement Home, Dalzell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Valentine's Church, Peru with Rev. Gary Blake pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valentine's Cemetery, Spring Valley. Visitation will be held 10-10:50 AM Thursday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Mrs. Dunne was born on March 31, 1924 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin to Daniel and Mary Ethel (Murphy) Wallensack. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Lombard and graduated from Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn. Mrs. Dunne went on to attend the Metropolitan Business School in Chicago. She married John M. "Bud" Dunne on June 11, 1955 in Lombard. He passed away on November 14, 2000.
Mrs. Dunne worked at Carson Pirie Scott in Chicago, Rapid Transit in Chicago, Exchange National Bank, the U.S. Treasury Bureau of Public Debt in Chicago, and the Chicago Transit Authority. She also worked at the Tonica Grade School, Westclox, Starved Rock Lodge, and the U.S. Post Office in LaSalle. Mrs. Dunne volunteered for the Red Cross and at the Loretto Hospital in Chicago. She was a member of St. Valentine's Church in Peru, Illinois Club for Catholic Women, Northwestern 400 Ski Club, and the Tonica 20th Century Club.
She is survived by her three children, Tim (Karen) Dunne of Spring Valley, Lauri (David) Oscepinski of Lena, and Michael (Janice) Dunne of Stockton, MO; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Dunne of Oglesby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Brian Dunne on February 18, 2016.
Pallbearers will be Chris Dunne, Ryan Dunne, Jarod Dunne, Eli Dunne, Garrett Oscepinski, and Josh Detwiler.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Tonica Fire Department and Ambulance.
