Born: February 13, 1969 in Leonore, IL
Died: June 2, 2022 in Oregon, IL
Andy J. "Farter" Schmitt, 53, of Leonore, passed away June 2, 2022 surrounded by his siblings and their spouses at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday in Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica is assisting the family with arrangements.
Andy was born and raised in Leonore on February 13, 1969 to Dean E. and Helen J. (Arkels) Schmitt. He worked at Nutrien Ag Services for 28 years. He was a graduate of Tonica High School.
Andy enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Andy is survived by his father Dean Schmitt of Peru; one sister Mary Kay (Jim) Baietto of El Paso; four brothers Joseph (Erin) Schmitt of Normal, Nicholas (Vicki) Schmitt of Bloomington, Patrick (Panna) Schmitt of Streator, and Tim Schmitt of Oglesby; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen "Toots" Schmitt, one sister Julie Ann Schmitt, his grandparents, and two nephews Lucas and Kurt Schmitt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice and Home or St. Jude's.
Pallbearers will be Randy, Rick, and Patrick Schmitt; Joe Soulsby; Marty and Jason Wiesbrock; and Clay Zavada.
