Charles Raymond Warren, "Ray," 99 of Belleview, FL., formerly of Princeton, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Florida. Ray was born April 24,1923 in LaRue Co., Kentucky to Emmett and Burlie (Milby) Warren. Ray married M. Helen Thumma on Nov. 9, 1947 they were married 56 years when Helen passed in Jan. 2004. In Oct. 2008, Ray remarried Mary Catherine Wear, and she passed in Aug. 2021.
Ray served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Ray worked for Brytle Nevitt Trucking, Carpentry for the local union out of Joliet, Ray retired from Perry Memorial Hospital where he was in maintenance, after retirement he drove a school bus for the local school district, and had a passion for fixing dolls. Ray always said he was a Jack of all trades but master of none.
Ray adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren by telling stories, jokes and teasing them. Ray always had a great sense of humor. Ray loved his many pet dogs throughout the years. Ray was quite the story teller of his escapades growing up and all his experiences in life. To have lived just short of 100 years, he had so much to tell. Ray enjoyed camping and would travel south for some of the winters. Ray was a dedicated attendee of church.
Ray is survived by his children, two sons, Stephen Warren of Belleview, FL, Anthony (Tammy) Warren of Tiskilwa, IL, and two daughters, Connie Hoffman and Denise (Steve) Grundman, both of Princeton, IL; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Warren, Cari Hanson, Erica Bird, Tabitha Warren, Brandon Kinsley, Shannon Kinsley, Joshua Fairbanks, Kirsten Kruse, Elijah Grundman, Ryan Warren, Tyler Warren and Alec Warren, 16 great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Helen & Mary, 6 brothers Everett & Harvey in infancy, Robert, William, Jack & Joe, one sister Irene "Sissy,", and a granddaughter, Nicole Kinsley.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the New Hope Church in Princeton, IL from 2pm until 4pm with a service at 3:30pm, Reverend Bill Jacobsen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Archstone Foundation or donor's choice.
