Christopher Grove Obituary

Christopher Grove
Born: September 14, 1973 in LaSalle, IL
Died: September 17, 2024 in LaSalle, IL.
On September 17th, 2024 Christopher "Chris" Grove 51 of LaSalle, passed away peacefully at his residence due to a lengthy battle with ALS. His mom, brother, and sister were at his side, praying with him and for him. The funeral mass will be on Saturday September 21st at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson, Pastor of Oglesby Holy Family Parish, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, September 20th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle. At 7:30 p.m. the Knights of Columbus, Council 792 of LaSalle, will recite the rosary. Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the mass.
Chris was welcomed into this world on September 14th, 1973 at St. Mary's Hospital in LaSalle by his parents, Dick and Gerry (Kopytkiewicz) Grove.
Chris's roots were always in LaSalle. For twenty-five years of his life he dedicated himself to the City of St. Charles, IL, where he served as a proud Police Officer. Throughout those years Chris would frequently come back to LaSalle to spend time with his family and friends. Chris was a lifelong member of St. Hyacinth Church. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 792 in LaSalle, where he served for a time as Grand Knight. He was both a member and Board Member of the St. Stephen's Society and the South Shore Boat Club. Throughout his life he was a proud, dedicated and knowledgeable Chicago White Sox fan, and loved watching the Sox play on tv or at the park, all the while enjoying a Miller Lite. He especially enjoyed attending Jimmy Buffett concerts and listening to Buffet music with friends and family, and enjoyed playing euchre with his many friends. During the summer he would frequently invite friends and family to go boating with him on the Illinois river. During the winter he would help others in many ways, including by dressing up as Santa Clause at Christmas time, to the delight of many nieces, nephews, and children of friends. But what Chris cherished and loved the most was just spending time with his family and friends who meant so much to him. He is survived by: his mom Gerry Grove, of LaSalle; his brother Jeff Grove, of LaSalle; his sister Jenny (Jim) Peters, of LaSalle; Sister-in-Law Deanna Grove, of LaSalle. His nieces and nephews: Anna, John, Sarah, and Michael Peters; Addie, Ember, and Eden Grove and Grace Miller. Many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He is preceded in death by his dad (Dick, 2011). In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for his favorite charities. On line condolences may be expressed at www.burgessfh.com
