David E. Prescott Sr., 87, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away October 4, 2025 at his home. He was born January 29, 1938, in Sublette, IL, a son of George E. and Greta Truckenbrod Prescott. He married Sandra L. Mussatto on June 9, 1962 in Cedar Point, IL.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jon E. Prescott; sisters-in-law Marguerite Flannery of WI, and Sharon Prescott of Lake Forest, IL. He was an uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David E. Prescott Jr.; his brother, Charles A. Prescott; a sister-in-law, Beverly; and brother-in-law, Donald Skowronski.
David graduated from Mendota High School in 1956 He also graduated from LPO Junior College, and from Bradley University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He held a professional engineering Illinois license. He worked for many Chicago area companies that afforded him travel to far reaching states and abroad. He retired in 2001.
He was a member of St. Marceline Catholic Parish, Schaumburg and belonged to the Mendota Elks Club all of his adult life. He served in the United States Army Reserve in the 1960s.
Among many interests, he loved music and was always listening to it. He played the piano and organ. He was also very adept at playing songs by ear. He liked being out in nature, working in the yard, keeping a garden, and especially nurturing seeds into plants. He followed the weather daily and had considerable knowledge about it. He was good at carpentry and fixing things. He loved his country and cared for the flag; he flew it each day.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Granville, IL, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
