Died: May 23, 2025 in Princeton, IL
Douglas Lee Sampo, 38, formerly of LaMoille, passed away May 23, 2025. Doug was born May 1, 1987, in Spring Valley to Dennis and Cathy (McLaughlin) Sampo. He was raised in LaMoille and graduated from LaMoille High School in 2005. During his high school career, Doug was a member of the football team. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Arlington.
Doug is survived by his sister, Heather (Dan Hunter) Dober of Arlington; nephews, Adam Dober of Peru and Logan Dober of Arlington; uncle Dan (Laura Kessinger) McLaughlin; paternal grandmother, Carol Sampo; aunts Debra Ann King and Donna Alice Clinton; godparents, Lynn and Jim Andrews; and several cousins and many friends.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Cathy Sampo; maternal grandparents, William and Judith McLaughlin; and paternal grandfather, Ronald Sampo.
Cremation care has been provided by the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Contributions in Doug's memory may be directed to The Sampo Family, c/o Horner-Merritt Funeral Home, 800 Monroe St., Mendota, IL 61342.
