Died: April 1, 2024 in Mendota, IL
Elaine Rose (Williams) Cain passed away on April 1st, 2024 at Stonecroft Village in Mendota Illinois, at the age of 97. Visitation will be 10:30 -11am on April 15. 2024 in Wasmer Funeral Home. A private family service will follow led by Rev. Mary Bohall. Burial will be private.
Elaine was born on November 17th, 1926, to George and Mae Williams in Kingston Mines, Illinois. She lived her first years of life on a houseboat on the Illinois River. Elaine met and married the love of her life Vernon H. Cain on April 14th, 1945, after knowing him only 6 weeks. They bought their first home in Hanna City and went on to have 3 children. Later they moved to Mendota where they had their 4th child. Elaine loved to spend time golfing, bowling, having coffee with her friends, and devoted time to the First United Methodist Church in Mendota. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, on December 26th, 2004. She is survived by her daughter Pattye (Ken) Doran of Mendota, Illinois, her son Vernon Sandy (Kathy) Cain of St. George, Utah, her daughter Zebbye (Tim) Koran of St. Charles, Illinois, and her daughter Dorene Cain of Fort Myers Beach, Florida. 8 grandchildren whom she loved dearly, and 14 great grandchildren who she has adored since they were "knee high to a grasshopper". The love she shared with her friends and family will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be left at wasmerfuneralhome.com.
