Died: November 27, 2021 in Princeton, IL
Hilding Enoch Allen, 93, of Princeton, Illinois passed away at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Liberty Village in Princeton.
He was born August 2, 1928 at home in Princeton, Illinois the son of George and Gertrude (Eickmeier) Allen.
Hilding married Joann Marie Kitterman on July 31, 1950 in Princeton, Illinois. They shared 71 years together. She survives in Princeton.
He is also survived by two daughters: Vicki (Kent) Ackerman of East Moline, and Catherine Losey of Princeton, Illinois; one son, Larry (Kathy) Allen, also of Princeton; six grandchildren: Kelly (Ben) Keith, Julie Allen, Jennifer (Colton) Teske, Nathan Losey, Katie (John) Donofrio, and Molly (Brandon) Alred; and four great-grandsons: Kaden, Carter, and Bennett Keith, and Ian Donofrio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in law, Allen B. Losey.
Hilding graduated from Princeton High School with the Class of 1946. He was a lifelong farmer in the Princeton area.
Hilding was a member of the First Christian Church in Princeton and was a 32 Degree Mason. He was dedicated to farming and was a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau. He was also active in county, state, and national pork producer organizations, and was an advocate for the pork industry in Washington, D.C and Springfield, Illinois.
Hilding received the Prairie Farmer Master Farmer award in 1986 and the Illinois Pork Farm Family of the year in 1992.
Hilding loved spending time with his family, wintering in Florida, playing cards, deer hunting and enjoying his favorite dog, Ben.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Bureau Township Community Church, Princeton with Sharon Meisenheimer, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Burial will take place in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation in his memory. Online condolences may be sent to www.grant-johnsonfh.com.
