Jim was loved by many and has left us far too soon. Strange his non-in-law family was not mentioned. This was unexpected and we are exceedingly grieved at this loss. Many years ago Jim taught me to play the card game spades after Thanksgiving meal. I was always happy to see him pull out a deck of cards, my favorite part of get-togethers was game playing with Jim and Joe. They were a great team. At least they are together again now.

Cousin Jim was a beloved figure at Schwartz family gatherings. It was always a treat when one or more of the Brophy brothers showed up.
Jim was excellent at cards, dominoes, and games like Risk. Many happy afternoons were spent playing with Jim at my Grandparents house. Lots of laughing, lots of losing (primarily by me), and an endless running debate of who the current village idiot was for any particular game session. (Someone has to be right? Every village has one was Jim's perspective...)
He lived life much like one of the characters from the books on his bookshelves, he rode a steel horse, had adventures, married a princess, found true love, and had friends and family that loved him deeply.
Rest in Peace Jim, you are sorely missed.

Jim was, without a doubt, my coolest cousin. (Though Joe certainly gave him a run for his money.)
Visiting my grandparents in Iowa always held the exciting possibility of seeing Jim. He was a master storyteller, captivating with tales of daring adventures, mischievous pranks, and even a touch of romantic intrigue. Whether truth or tall tale, I was never quite sure.
I will remember Jim as larger than life. Classic cool - a figure reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime - strong, imposing, with that signature cigar clenched between his teeth as he sat astride his motorcycle, ready for anything.
He rode off too soon. We'll miss him dearly.

Jim was my friend for the longest time. So many good memories with him, even attending my wedding. Jim had so many friends that truly loved and cared for him! He loved Jesus, boating and he loved his friends, he loved life and the world in which he lived. He would protect his own no matter the cost and would give the shirt off his back for anyone! He was a caregiver to his wife til the very end and loved her with all that he was.
I´m really gunna miss that man and the countless nights next to the fire.

I met Jim when we worked at Eagles Supermarket in the early 80´s. We had some great times and a lot of laughs. Rest in peace, old buddy.
