Died: August 26, 2025 in Peru, Illinois
Alice Jane (Eungard) McClintock, 96, of Peru, formerly of Cherry, entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She had been residing at Manor Court of Peru.
Known and cherished by all as Jane, she was born on January 31, 1929, in Joliet, to Harry Charles and Alice Lynette (Cope) Eungard.
Jane married Rev. Donald E. McClintock on May 18, 1951, in Joliet. After briefly residing in Washington, D.C., the McClintocks returned to Illinois, where Don became Pastor of Oglesby Union Church in 1953. Don and Jane raised a family in Oglesby, where he remained pastor until 1974.
During those years, Jane held various positions of employment at Illinois Power. Jane moved with her family to Downey, Calif., in 1974 and accepted a position with the Downey Unified School District in the administration department.
After three years in California, Jane returned to Illinois and lived with her family in Norwood Heights, Highland Park, Afolkey, and Cherry, where Don pastored Congregational churches. While residing in Afolkey, Jane accepted a position at Highland Community College in nearby Freeport. Jane retired after working at the college for more than five years.
During their years serving church congregations, Jane cherished entertaining. She was skilled at planning and serving exquisite meals in a moment's notice for the many speakers, soloists, and visiting ministers who were guests in her home. Jane was a master baker, who spoiled her family and friends with sweet creations, foremost among them her famous fudge recipe.
Apart from her culinary skills, Jane enjoyed applying her creative talents to painting on canvas. Her artwork graced her homes and those of family and friends.
In recent years, Jane was a member of the First Congregational Church of Peru. She volunteered in the local Kids Club and taught children's Bible classes in several local churches. Jane was a fixture among volunteers at Kids Club headquarters in Malden for many years.
Jane is survived by: her son, David McClintock of Downey, Calif.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, and Molly Whittington, and Amy and Jenny McClintock.
She was preceded in death by: her brother, Harry Eungard, Jr.; her husband, Rev. Donald E. McClintock; her daughter, Sonnie Whittington; and her sister, Mary Eungard Woodward.
