Janet Kay Stubbs, 86, of Henry, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Carle Proctor Hospital, Peoria. IL.
Janet was born March 15, 1939 in Taylorville, Il to William H. and S. Corine (Dain) Ostermeier. On August 1st, 1959, Janet married the love of her life, Nelson Kent Stubbs in Chicago, Il.
Janet graduated from Illinois Central College and the University of Illinois. Janet worked at the Amboy Hospital and later the Gambel's Store in Henry. She served many years as a registered nurse at Methodist Medical Center.
The love Janet had for her family ran deep and endless. She enjoyed spending countless hours visiting and catching up with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as other family members. During football season, Janet was never very far from her tv where she rooted proudly for her alma mater, the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Janet and Nelson were co-founders of the Henry Ambulance Service where Janet served as an EMT. They spent many years enjoying the RV life traveling the country and visiting family. They were members of the FMCA RV Association, All-Saints Parish/St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Henry Yacht Club and the Illinois River Basin Boating Association. Janet was the President and member of the Henry's Newcomers Club.
Janet is survived by her husband of 66 years, Nelson Stubbs of Henry; her children, Debra Parian also of Henry, Douglas (Julie) Stubbs of Toluca, David (Deborah Hass) Stubbs of Oshkosh, WI, and Darin (Lori) Stubbs of Walls, MS. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister Barbara (James) Mudd of Wichita Falls, TX, brother Dale Ostermeier, of Taylorville, and many nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Ostermeier, son-in-law Joseph Pairan and grandson Travis Stubbs.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Both will be at CALVERT & JOHNSON MEMORIAL HOME, 416 Edward St, Henry, IL 61537. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to: www.calvertmemorial.com.
