Joan was born February 10, 1952, in Springfield, IL to James "Pete" and Geraldine "Jean" (Pape) Nave. She married George Nave on October 27, 1973 in Resurrection Church in LaSalle. Joan was a 1970 graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School. Joan met the love of her life, George, shortly after starting what became a 39-year career at Hobbs in Spring Valley. The two worked together until their closure in 2010. She was known as a very dedicated and hard worker. She also truly enjoyed her part time job at the LaSalle Speedway concession area. She loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews beyond measure. In addition to being from a large family, Joan became a bonus mother and grandmother to many due to her genuinely loving nature. If someone needed a little extra love in their life, Joan was there with open arms. She enjoyed being outdoors during warmer weather, reading, cooking, baking and playing her slotomania. She was a proud volunteer with Cops 4 Cancer and couldn't wait for their next event. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, George of Dalzell; her children, Christopher (Lisa) Nave of Granville and Christine "Tina" (Gary) Garncarz of Dalzell; her mother, Jean Nave of Utica; her brothers, Virgil (Dalia) Nave of Peru, David (Lolita) Nave of Peru, Dale (Teresa) Nave of Bureau, Johnie (Nida) Nave of Utica, James (Wanda) Nave of Corning, Arkansas; her sister, Karen (Dale) Ammons of Dalzell; grandchildren, Brandon Nave, Collin Nave, Angela (Michael Dominguez) Nave, George Garncarz, and Jennifer (Connor Sanneman) Garncarz.
