PRINCETON - Judith "Judy" Kay Underwood, 75, of Princeton, Illinois passed away June 6, 2021 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton with family by her side.

Judy was born in Stone County, MO on September 28, 1945 to Sherman and Emma (White) Sissel.

She married Donald Underwood on December 28, 1963. They were married for 56 years. He preceded her in death in November 2015.

Judy worked at Harper Wyman for a number of years before retiring to become a full time stay at home mom to her children.

Judy loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She had such a zest for life. She will always be remembered for playing her accordion and singing to her children.

She is survived by her four children, Stephen (Dee) Underwood of Princeton, Illinois, Lorie Nelson of Asheville, NC, Jeffery Scott (Laurie) Underwood of Princeton, and Rhonda Underwood of Malden, Illinois; nine grandchildren: Allen Underwood, Richard "Ricky" (Tamra Culver) McCauley, Tiffany Underwood, Justin Atkinson, Stephanie (Nathan) Sims, Daisy Underwood, Timothy Low, Matthew Underwood, and Mary Underwood; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, a great-granddaughter, Lilian "Lily" Navaeh Leck; brothers, Gerald Sissel, James "Dale" Sissel, Bennie Sissel, Danny Sissel; sisters: Phyllis Cass, Maxine Lucas, and an infant sister.

A visitation will be held Thursday June 10, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, 30 W. Mechanic St. Princeton, IL 61356. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Derek Boggs, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her best friend and love of her life - her husband, Donald, in a private graveside service at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.
