Died: March 29, 2024 in Mendota, IL
Judy Phillips, 68 of Mendota passed away March 29, 2024, in her home with her loving husband and two daughters by her side.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 7 from 1-4 in the First United Methodist Church. Services will be at 4pm in the church with Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Burial will be private. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.
Judy was born March 8, 1956, in Aurora, Illinois to William C. and Mary Ann (Novakoski) Bonifas. She attended East Aurora High School graduating in 1974. She followed at Waubonsee Community College, graduating with her Registered Nursing degree. On August 7,1993 she married Randy Phillips at the First United Methodist Church of Mendota. Judy began her career at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley for 2 years, then took a position in the ER and ICU departments at Mendota Community Hospital. At OSF St. Paul she worked in Case Management, before ending her 42 year nursing career in the office of Dr. Scholl, retiring in 2021.
Judy was a devoted, charter member of the New Covenant Assembly of God, she and her husband volunteered hundreds of hours to Illinois Valley Hospice for 16 years and the Illinois Valley PADS for 18 years.
She will be forever missed by her husband Randy of Mendota; 2 daughters Nicole (Kyle) Manders of LaMotte, IA., Melissa Jensen of Addison; 3 grandchildren: Gabe, Mitch and Camiel Manders; 2 brothers: Craig Bonifas of Aurora, Tim Bonifas of Conover, WI., 3 sisters: Linda (Fred May) Bonifas of Aurora, Denise (Jim) Stumpenhorst of Sugar Grove, and Mary (Bill) Honiotes of Elburn. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Cheryl Douell, brother Paul Bonifas, in-laws: Eileen and Danny Biers, 2 sisters-in-law: Sandy Coss and Tanya Phillips, and a nephew Dale Plant.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Manders, Mitch Manders, Ryan Coss and Clayton Coss.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judy's friends Jane Zimmerman and Martha Piller.
Memorials may be directed to New Covenant Assembly of God. Condolences may be left at wasmerfuneralhome.com.
