Loretta J. "Jodi" (Capello) Newell, 75, of Peru, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Margaret's Health, Peru.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home with Pastor Betty Delgado of Trinity United Church of Christ, LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Newell was born November 26, 1946 in Danville to Louis and Ella Mae (Fudge) Capello. She was a graduate of Hall High School and later received her CNA and Cosmetology degrees. She married Ralph "Skip" Newell on January 24, 1991 at their home in Peru.
Mrs. Newell worked as a beautician and owned and operated Jodi's Beauty Salon for over 25 years. She also worked as a florist at Cosgrove's and Toni's Flowers. She also served as secretary for Laborers Local 1203. She and her husband were members at Fish-N-Fun in McNabb. She enjoyed QVC shopping, decorating and she loved her dogs. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Skip; four children, David (Jeanette) Kneebone of Spring Valley, Stacey (Cameron) Robbins and Nicci (Randy Huebbe) Gibson both of Peru and Tasha (Derek) Scott of Peoria; two step-children, Lisa (Cory) Fronczke of Webster Park and Ralph Newell III of Spring Valley; nine grandchildren, Jazzmyne, C.J., Taylor, Kaitlyn, Athena, Alec, Alastar, Joe and Jeff; two great-grandchildren, Harper and Leo and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Crystal Weistart and her brothers, Louis Capello Jr. and Bud Fudge.
