Richard Byvik Obituary

Richard L. Byvik
Born: March 4, 1941
Died: May 19, 2022
Richard L. Byvik, brother, uncle, friend, passed peacefully May 19, 2022.
Rick was born to Andrew and Kathryn Byvik of Ladd on March 4, 1941. He was a 1955 graduate of Ladd Community Consolidated School and St. Bede Academy Class of 1959. Following a tour of duty with the U.S. Marines, Rick obtained a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University and a Master of Science from the The University of Illinois Governors State University. He retired after serving his country as a chemist for the Superfund & Emergency Management Division of the Environmental Protection Agency, receiving multiple Outstanding Performance Awards. In his retirement, Rick spent the Midwest winter months in Thailand enjoying the sunny beaches and warm weather.
His sister, Frances Piper resides in Ohio, IL and brother Charles and his wife, Terry, in Alexandria, VA. He loved his many nieces and nephews participating in their graduations, weddings, and births. He was Uncle Santa with generous Christmas gifts.
The generations of the Piper and Byvik clans will miss him, his terse humor,
his very brief and astute comments and his generosity.
