Robert "Rob" Chiesi, 69, of Spring Valley, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at O.S.F St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa.
A rosary service for Rob will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley with burial to follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation for Rob will be held on Friday, May 10th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barto Funeral Home, with additional visitation from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Saturday morning.
He was born in Spring Valley on December 21, 1954 the son of Arthur and Arlene (Mattioda) Chiesi. He married Debra Robeza on January 25, 1975 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Spring Valley.
Rob worked for Mautino Distributing Co. as a salesman for 37 years and then for Euclid Beverage until retiring in 2020. He was a graduate of Hall High School in 1972. Rob was a volunteer for the Spring Valley Fire Department for 20 years, coached youth football, was a past President and coach of the Spring Valley Little League for many years, a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and enjoyed tennis and street hockey.
Above all, Rob lived for his family, especially his grandchildren. The grandchildren brought out Rob's inner child, and he was often seen playing and rolling around on the floor with them or teaching them how to ride bikes. Papa never said "no" and he even built them a rock-climbing wall, as well as numerous racetracks. He was amazing and simply the best papa ever.
Rob is survived by his wife, Deb of Spring Valley; his son, Michael (Darcy) Chiesi of Bloomington; his daughter, Gina (Nick) Heuser of Granville; his mother, Arlene Chiesi of Spring Valley; a brother, Rich Chiesi of East Peoria; a sister Sheri (Bob) Levan of Montgomery, Texas: 7 grandchildren, Liam Parsons of Indiana; Harper Heuser of Granville, and Kadin, Austin, Connor, Rocco, and Stella Chiesi, all of Bloomington; along with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur on February 2, 1991.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
