Ronald Wayne Swietek passed away suddenly January 20, 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Ron was born in La Salle, Illinois on February 24, 1941 - one day before his wife of 60 years. They often joked it was love at first sight in the hospital nursery of St. Mary's. Ron was an accomplished high school athlete, a lover of golf and fishing, and one of the hardest workers ever known. It was said when he retired from his 40 year long career with Carus Chemical, it took three men to replace him!
Born to John Swietek and Matilda (Ziebert) Swietek and one of five children, Ron was a patient family man and a calm and steady influence on all that knew him. He was always ready to pitch in and help. Ron especially loved his granddaughters. He moved from his hometown of LaSalle to the Raleigh area to live closer to them, and always attended their events - from band concerts, and parades to piano recitals, football games,and award ceremonies - nothing was too insignificant. He liked to show his love through sharing food and always had goodies ranging from spaghetti to cherry squares.
Wayne is loved and missed by his wife Arlene, his daughter Christine Hanson, son-in-law Allen Hanson, and granddaughters Kalene (Alex) Thomas and Leah Hanson. He is survived also by his siblings Rosemary Swietek, John (Janice) Swietek, and Donald (Mary Jo) Swietek. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Swietek.
A funeral mass was held Friday, February 4th, 2022 at St Bernadette's Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Memorial donations may be made in Ron's memory to St Bede Academy, 24 W US Highway 6, Peru, IL 61354

To the family of Ron Swietek, I offer my complete condolences. I knew Ron Swietek very well and Liked him from the minute that I met him. He was a kind, considerate and very humble person. I never knew anyone who worked harder than Ron. It doesn't surprise me that it took 3 people to replace him when he retired. After I quit Carus Chemical, Ron and I went our separate ways, but he left a wonderful and memorable impression upon me that has lasted a lifetime. It's sad to know that this world has lost such a wonderful person. His passing is certainly a big loss to his family and friends, and I would like to count myself as being one of his friends. He made a big impression on a lot of people with his kindness, dedication, and caring personality. In my opinion, heaven has gained a beautiful angel....and his passing is this world's loss.
"Rest in peace, my friend. After working so hard here in this life, you deserve to take it easy. I know we'll see each other again,..on the other side of the rainbow bridge".
