Vernon Allen Bejster, 63, of Malden, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at OSF St. James Medical Center in Pontiac, surrounded by his loved ones.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1-3:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Malden Grade School with a memorial service held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Michael Slutz officiating. Burial will be private in Malden Cemetery.
Mr. Bejster was born March 13, 1958 in Peru to Frank and Ethel (Fupler) Bejster. He was a graduate of LaMoille High School and Illinois Valley Community College. He married Joanne Hunt on May 25, 1991 in Peru.
Mr. Bejster was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Peru. He served as a board member at Malden Grade School as well as a national board member of the Ayrshire Breeders Association. He was the Township Supervisor for 12 years for Berlin Township and played a vital role in the veteran memorial at Malden Cemetery. He farmed his entire life and retired after 22 years as Head of Maintenance at LaMoille School District. He had tremendous pride in his children and his Royale Divide dairy herd he built with his brother. He also had a passion for fishing, small game hunting and trapping, Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, the New York Yankees and sharing stories.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; two children, Quincy (Mallory) Bejster of Waukegan, Brittany (Chase) Peach of Flanagan; two siblings, David (Karen) Bejster of Spring Valley and Linda (Jack) Fetzer of LaMoille and nieces and nephews, Joel, Katelyn, Mark, Rachel and Tim.
He was preceded by his parents and a brother, Ronald Bejster.
