Wayne L. Schultz 87 of Mendota passed away November 23,2022 in his home with his family by his side. Visitation will be Thursday December 1,2022 from 5-7 p.m. in Wasmer Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be private. Wayne was born April 3,1935 in Peru to Vincent "Packy" and Marian (Stuart) Schultz. He graduated LaSalle-Peru High School in 1953. Wayne married Virginia Smith on March 30,1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1960 until 1965 leaving as an E5 sergeant. Wayne graduated from the University of Illinois in 1960. He worked at Westclox for 17 years from 1953 to 1975. In 1975 he started the Wayne Schultz Insurance agency and sold the business in 2000 the to the First State Bank of Mendota. For several years he worked with First State Insurance. Wayne was very active in the community, belonging to the Mendota Elks Lodge #1212, The Mendota Golf Club and with the Mendota Lions Club for 30 plus years, serving on many committees and as Past President. He will be dearly missed by his 7 sons: Jeffrey (Linda) Wobrock of Peru, William (Kathy) Wobrock of Wenona Lake, Indiana, Kevin Wobrock of West Chicago, Patrick (Janet) Schultz of Madison, Georgia, Michael Schultz of Independence, Missouri, Christopher (Pam) Schultz of Oakland, Tennessee, Timothy (Rhonda) Schultz of DeKalb, 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sister Kay (Arthur) Giese of Peru, and companion Karol Hetrick of Mendota. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia on 12/16/12, great grandchild Alex Heagy, brother Keith in infancy, and sister Gwen Kubera.
