KEYSER - Catherine Wayne (Young) Parish, age 60, of Grand Avenue, Keyser, WV, died February 1, 2021 at her residence.
Cathy was born February 13, 1960 in Harrisonburg, VA, the third daughter of the late Hugh W. Young, formerly of LaVale, MD and the late Ella Mae (Kesterson) Young, also formerly of LaVale, MD.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Gary L. Parish of Keyser; her son, Garrett W. Parish, also of Keyser, and her daughter, Marjorie Lynn (Parish) Hedlund, (and husband Eric) of Lakeview, Oregon. Also surviving her is her grandson, Everett Finn Hedlund of Lakeview. She is also survived by two sisters, Karen Keller (and husband Kim Keller) of Hagerstown, MD, and Cindy Hughes (and husband Keith Hughes) of Silver Spring, MD. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Cathy was currently employed by the Allegany Co. Health Dept., Cumberland, MD as a registered nurse and has been a nurse for some 30 years.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Keyser, WV. At one time she was an avid tennis player.
She was a graduate of Frostburg State University with BS and MS degrees. She was also a graduate of Allegany College of MD with an AA degree in Nursing.
Friends will be received on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00pm with the Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.
For family and friends unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed from the Markwood Funeral Home website.
Interment held in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
Due to the current health concerns, all guests are required to wear face masks and exercise social distancing at all time.
