Willie Swisher Obituary

McCOOLE, Md. - Willie Lee Swisher, 79, of Burke Hill Road, McCoole, MD, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.
Born on May 3, 1937 at Morgantown, WV, he was a son of the late Ralph Wayne and Louella Lucille (Jackson) Swisher. He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie Brown and Rhonda Hill and two brothers, Richard Wayne Swisher and James Robert Swisher.
Mr. Swisher was retired as a shift foreman with Anchor Glass, Keyser. He was an avid baseball fan, his favorite team being the Chicago Cubs. He was also an antique car enthusiast and was very proud of the 1938 Chevrolet that he restored almost completely from the ground up. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at the pool that his family nicknamed "Willie's World," and he also enjoyed traveling and spending many good times with his siblings at the country house.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Edna Mae (Baker) Swisher; two children, Carrie B. Lewis and husband David of Westernport, MD and Shawn L. Swisher and wife Erica of McCoole; seven grandchildren, Brooke Martin, Nikki Greenwald, Patric Boyce, Jeff Hill, Dakota Brown, Paige Swisher and McKenna Swisher and six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Titus, Ben and Lydia Hill and Jade and Jayme Greenwald. Also surviving are three brothers, Ralph Eddy Swisher of Portage, Indiana, Harry Dale Swisher of Fairmont, WV and Charles Ray Swisher of Grafton, WV and three sisters, Betty Lou McBee of Morgantown, Linda Sue Christy of Fairmont and Janet Louise Keener of Morgantown.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Hill officiating. Friends may also call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC  20090-6011.
