James Ralston Obituary

James Robert Ralston, 82, of 2 Clover Green Court, Fishersville, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born November 6, 1924, in Churchville, Virginia, son of Pleasant David Ralston and Lucy Floyd Ralston.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army 2nd Corps, 88th Division. He was a past commander of the Staunton VFW Post 2216 and a retired Inspector for General Electric. Mr. Ralston was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also volunteered at Augusta Medical Center.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Marie Swink, Ruby Ann Driver, Elizabeth Jane Ralston, and Johnnie Reinhardt; three brothers, William H. Ralston P.D. Ralston Jr. and Jack H. Ralston.

Surviving are his wife, Violet Hutton Ralston of Fishersville; his son, David H. Ralston and his wife, Mia, of Staunton; three grandchildren, David H. Ralston Jr. and wife, Amy, Tori Brannon, and Ryan Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Kylie Ralston; his sister, Nancy Harlow; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal visitation or viewing at McDow Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Reverend Roy White and the Reverend Larry Nolff officiating. Honors will be conducted by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Choir Fund of Fishersville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1049, Fishersville, VA 22939.
