Katherine M. Johnson, 66, of Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Waynesboro, died on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 8:19 a.m., at Glen A Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, N.C. She was born on February 11, 1956 in Waynesboro, Va., the daughter of the late Johnny McDaniel and Mary Hopkins.
Katherine loved her two dogs, Gizmo and Sugar. She loved hummingbirds, reading, crafting, and her passion was quilting. She has touched many people by sharing her love for quilting over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Agnes Lee Perry, who raised her, her beloved husband, Johnny Harold Johnson, and her brother, Johnny McDaniel.
Survivors include daughter, Tonya Jenkins and Brian of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; stepdaughter, Suzie Sheets and Chris of Staunton; grandsons, Lucas Jenkins and Levi Jenkins of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; step-grandson, Justin Uhler of Staunton; step-granddaughter, Brandi Fisher and Daniel of Staunton; sister, Alice Underwood of Waynesboro; half brother, Michael Wade and Patti of W.Va.; and step great grandchildren, Josie Mae and Westyn Fisher of Staunton.
Services will be held in the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home Chapel, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 1 p.m., conducted by Pastor Darrell Cox of N.C. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
