Merle Schages Obituary

Merle Lantz Schages, 73, of 21 Schages Lane, peacefully went home to be with her Lord, Friday morning, March 10, 2006 at her residence. She was born November 25, 1932 at Bergton in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Paul and Clara Dove Lantz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Lane Lantz. Mrs. Schages was a member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church. She loved traveling; and working with her flowers in the yard. Survivors include her husband Hans Schages, two sons, Randy Lantz and Dale Lantz, two stepsons, Hans H. Schages and his wife Elizabeth Ann of Stuarts Draft and Peter P. Schages and his wife Georgie of Stuarts Draft, three step-daughters, Margret Lucas and her husband Michael of Stuarts Draft, Joann Coffey and her husband Pat L. of Stuarts Draft and Christa Cale and her husband Mark of Waynesboro; one sister, May Orebaugh of Bergton, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three nieces, Carole Price and her husband Billy of Bergton, Kay Seuss and her husband Greg of Ocean City, Md. and Christy Turner of Fulks Run, three nephews, Greg Orebaugh of Harrisonburg, Ricky Lantz of Bergton and Darin Lantz of Harrisonburg, two great nieces, Melissa D. Price of Bergton and Tammy Whitehead of Ocean City, Md., and a sister-in-law, Mary Lantz of Bergton. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by Pastor Earl Monroe with burial following at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Pat L. Coffey, Greg Orebaugh, Donald Sims, Randy Kiser, Tony Schages, Greg Seuss, Tracy Potter and James Bryant. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 tonight, March 12, 2006, at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain. View Mennonite Church, PO Box 208, Lyndhurst, VA 22982. Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro is serving the family.
