Anne Burr Fairchild Jeffery -
Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on September 4, 1931, died peacefully at her Greenwich, CT home on July 25, 2013. She will be remembered for her grace, dignity, humility, and strength of character. She loved gardening, animals and following the financial markets. She spent countless hours volunteering at Greenwich Hospital, where she was especially fond of her time in the maternity ward. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by family and friends in Bermuda and Fenwick, CT, where her mother and stepfather owned a home. Anne is a proud graduate of the Kimberley School of Mountclair, NJ and Smith College. She was the daughter of Louis Fairchild, President and Publisher of Fairchild Publications - parent company of Women's Wear Daily and Margaret Suydam. Anne was also the step daughter to Richard Suydam and Gertrude Fairchild. She is survived by her brother John Fairchild, also publisher of Fairchild Publications, of New York City, her two daughters, to whom she devoted her life; Wendy Hubbell of Greenwich, CT and Jill Garvin and her husband, Mark of Andover, MA. Her four adored grandchildren; Jamie Hubbell, Kaitlyn Hubbell, Jennifer Garvin, and Annie Garvin. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Carleton Jeffery who passed away in 1978 after only 21 years of marriage. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, at 11am at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church 954 Lake Ave., Greenwich, CT. A private family burial to follow at Putnam Cemetery 35 Parsonage Rd., Greenwich, CT
