Helen Donofrio Obituary

Helen Josephine Donofrio, 77

DOVER - Helen Josephine Donofrio, of Dover, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, in her home, with her loving family at her side. She was 77.

She was born July 16, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y., daughter of the late William and Bessie (Hiechel) Haupt.

Helen worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Greenwood and Dr. Capodanno before spending 20 years in Texas, where she worked as an apartment manager.

Upon her retirement, she returned to Delaware, where she spent the last eight years.

She was an avid reader, loved animals and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Diane Chambers of Arlington, Texas, and Sharon A. Shockley of Harrington; a son, Tom Donofrio and his wife Josephine of Highland Village, Texas; six grandchildren, Brian Chambers, Michael Chambers, Monica Falasco, Natalie Castillo, Marisa Donofrio and Thomas Donofrio; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Burial will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
