Janet Smith Obituary

FREDERICA - Janet L. Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Janet was the daughter of Julian Courtney, James French and Gladys Thomas. Spouse of Ronald Moore and Donald Knight. Working hard all her life, cooking, Janet was the head cook at Frederica senior center for over twenty years. Preparing meals for seniors as well as a cook at Delaware fire school Famous for her, wonderful meals, especially her chicken salad and her chicken and dumplings. Janet lived life to its fullest, enjoying dining out, especially her Sunday breakfast at Kirby and Holloway with her son, spouse and family, her many trips to the southern states enjoying country shows and music, dancing, bingo at Frederica and bowers fire hall, and being around her family and wonderful friends. Janet was a member of Frederica senior center, Harrington Moose Lodge, and Magnolia Fire Company. She attended freedom Baptist Church. She is survived by her spouse, Kenneth Smith; son, James J. Moore and his wife, Nikole Moore, of Frederica; daughters, Renee Hoffman and her husband, Daniel Hoffman, of Frederica, and Karen Moore and her husband, Kent Ingraham, of Lakeville, Mass.; step-daughters, Kelly Sylvester and Penny Shockley; special sister, Mae Maloney of Lincoln; grandchildren, Tony and Shirl Palladino, Daniel Hoffman, II, Amber Hoffman, Sherrie Moore, James Hoffman, William Moore, Sydney Moore, and Conner and Emily Sylvester; great-grandchildren, Jacob Cammeron, Rachel, Tabban, Hayden, Raiden, and Ethan; special nephew, Kenneth Hughes; and a host of friends and family. Janet will be sadly missed. Remembrance services will be at noon on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Family and friends may also call Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Baratts Chapel, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Frederica Senior Center, PO Box 165, Frederica, DE 19946. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.traderfh.com or www.delmarvaobits.com
