Lydia Sebastian Obituary
SMYRNA - Lydia Sebastian, former long time Smyrna-Dover area resident, died Dec. 26, 2008, in Inova Fair Fax Hospital, in Falls Church, Va. She was 84. Born Oct. 13, 1924, in Calapan Oriental Mindora, The Philippines to Laudelino and Consuello (Tranate) Agay. She had moved from Madrid to Delaware in 1969, where she resided until moving to Vienna, Va., to live with a daughter. Mrs. Sebastian held a degree in Education but elected to devote her entire adult life to supporting her family in their endeavors as she viewed her children as her success in life. She enjoyed reading, travel, cooking and shopping and in her quieter moments she listened to her husband's music. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers and sisters along with a son, Renato Sebastian in 1952; and her husband, Oscar L. Sebastian Sr. in 1999. Mrs. Sebastian leaves three sons, Oscar Jr. of Camden, Omar of Hoboken, N.J., and Oliver of Dover; six daughters, Araceli Popen of Dover, Aleli Sebastian of Gathersburg, Md., Angeli Sebastian of Oakton, Va., Mimi Sebastian of Smyrna, Ami Sebastian-Hauer of Dover, and Alexei Haughom of Vienna, Va.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, where friends may call starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., Dover.
