Robert Dickerson Obituary

Robert H. Dickerson
Robert H. Dickerson passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021. Bobby was born on October 26, 1934 to Harvey and Marie (Houtteman) Dickerson.
He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1952. He joined the National Guard at age 16 and was honorably discharged. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 41 years. During his employment with Tilcon/Warren he rolled the track at Dover Downs. His roller was held up with a crane due to the incline of the track.
Bobby was an avid NASCAR fan and travelled up and down the east coast to numerous races. He took great pride in the 1950 Ford he had painted and decaled to match the Wood Brothers #21 Purolator Racing Car and was invited to their shop in Stuart, Va. He loved the outdoors and was a crabber, hunter, trapper & fisherman. He deer hunted in Pennsylvania and on the BB Farm, duck hunted in Maryland, goose hunted on a farm in Leipsic, cast many nets at Fisher's Mill Bridge and in the Delaware Bay and crabbed in Neavitt and Indian River Bay. He enjoyed his garden and cooking. He has cooked many a breakfast and hosted many chili parties for family and friends in his porch at Leisure Point. He looked forward to monthly luncheons with his classmates and to the auction and Spring Banquet held annually by their Alumni Association. Apple Scrapple, the Hebron and Sharptown Carnivals and the smorgasbord at Shady Maple were other favorites.
Bobby had many passions and shared them with his family. Family was his #1 priority and nothing was more important to him. He always took great care of us and has given us many, many precious memories to cherish. He will forever be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Gary Dickerson.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara (Messick) Dickerson; daughter and son-in-law, Debby and Ray Curlett; grandchildren, Michael Curlett (Crystal) and Mark Curlett (Laura); great grandchildren, Nick, Jake, Hannah, Sarah and Nate; his stepson and stepdaughter–in-law, Todd and Dawn Slacum; step grandsons, Seth Slacum, Remy Haynes and Foster Haynes; mother-in-law, Anna Mae Messick; sisters-in-law, Patsy Dickerson, Judy Dickerson and Linda Toadvine.
