Donald Mark Sparrow, 87
In Loving Memory of Don Sparrow who passed away on January 26, 2022 from complications of an automobile accident.
Son of Mark & Esther (Bryant) Sparrow, Donald was born on May 11, 1934. Donald grew up in North Olmstead, Ohio. At the age of 18, Don enlisted into the United States Air Force. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Senior Airman. As part of his service, he was stationed with the 49th Transportation Squadron, the 664th Radar Squadron and at the Bellefontaine Air Force Station. Donald received Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp w/2 Loops, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He Proudly served his country for 10 years and 1 month and was Honorable discharged on September 24, 1962
Donald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Georgia Ellen McClellan Cook Sparrow; his eldest son, Lee & daughter in law Cheri of Strongsville, Ohio; his son, Donald & daughter in law Linda of Sunrise, Fla.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Esther Derosett Carter; son in law, Steve Carter of New Port Ritchey; stepchildren include: Magnea Fridriksdottir Marley of Strongsville, Ohio; stepson, Harvey & daughter in law Barbara Cook of Medina, Ohio; Michael & stepdaughter Cheryl Cook LoCascio of Fort Denaud, Fla. Donald had 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He loved to play music, sing and entertain for the majority of his life sharing the love of music with his family and fellow veterans.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post #130 located at 699 W. Hickpochee Avenue, LaBelle, FL 33935 on April 9th from 2 - 6 p.m. in the banquet room. There will be food, memories, music, tears and love to be shared by all as we say goodbye.
A second Celebration of Life will be on June 11th at American Legion Clifton Post #421, 22001 Brookpark Road, Fairview Park, OH 44126 for friends and family in the Ohio area. There will also be food, more memories, music, tears, love and then on June 13, 2022 at 12:45 p.m. Donald will be taken for his final rest in the Ohio Western Reserve National Military Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
