Ruby Wright "Ruby" Meares

OKEECHOBEE - Ruby Wright Meares died December 16, 2016. She was born Sept. 15, 1927 in Lakeland, to Jette Arthur Wright, Jr. and Cora Ardelle Mason Wright. A resident of Okeechobee since 1956, she started Badcock with her husband. She was a member of Oakview Baptist Church and the Eastern Star, having served as Past Worthy Matron years ago. She started the Safety Patrol program in the schools which was sponsored by the Pilot Club of Okeechobee. Mrs. Meares was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Meares; son-in-law, Mark Ballinger; and sister, Ruth Brackin. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ballinger, of Okeechobee; brother, Art Wright (Barbara), of Lakeland; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until services at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, PO Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl 34973.
