Audrey Hayman
Born February 2, 1933, in Salisbury, MD, Audrey Hayman entered eternal rest on August 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Upon graduating Wicomico High School in 1952 Audrey would live a life of service to her family, friends and community. She married the love of her life, William Howard Hayman in 1953, and went on to work for Union Trust as a bank teller for several years. After leaving the bank, Audrey became a full-time homemaker to her two wonderful sons, Robert and Joseph (J.K.) Hayman. Central to her life and to her joy were her beloved grandsons, Austin and Adam Hayman. She would instill in her children and grandchildren the value of service and family.
Audrey was a Lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Church Circle, Homemakers Club, Bridge Club, and Green Hill Country Club. She also was an avid golfer and tennis player.
Audrey served on the PRMC Junior Auxiliary Board as Hours Chairman, TV Chairman, Treasurer, Shop Chairman and Vice President.
Mrs. Hayman created the beautiful needlepoint kneelers for St. Peters Lutheran Church and headed up the team, which included her sister and brother-in-law, to needlepoint the alter kneelers for Asbury United Methodist Church. She also comforted hundreds of newborn babies with her crocheted baby caps for PRMC.
Known as 'Augie' by those closest to her and a celebrity in her own right, this fashionable lady appeared in several television commercials for WBOC.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Harold J Carter and E. Pearl Carter; and by her late husband, William Howard Hayman.
She leaves to cherish her memories and life of service, her sons, Robert Wayne (Dory) Hayman of Salisbury, MD, Joseph Kirwin Hayman of Venice CA, grandsons Austin Hayman of Glendale CA, Adam Hayman of Austin, TX; sister, Jane Gaffney and her husband John Gaffney of Naples, FL; her sister-in-law, Anne Hayman of Salisbury, MD; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Services to honor the life of Audrey Hayman will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 12 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church is Salisbury, MD. A public visitation will be held one hour prior. On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 11 a.m., Mrs. William Howard Hayman will be laid to rest at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury and to Coastal Hospice.
