Alan Purcell Obituary
Alan T. Purcell, 76, beloved husband of Judy Gargano Purcell of East Haven passed away March 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Loving father of Lisa (Eric) Trumpold of Wallingford and Tracey Pfannenbecker of East Haven. Cherished grandfather of Eric II (Sarah), Andrew, Brandon and Nathaniel Trumpold, Lindsay Purcell, Lauren and William Pfannenbecker. Caring great-grandfather of Sophia and Owen Trumpold and Nicholas Huertes. Brother of Robert (Marie) Purcell of East Haven and the late Richard Purcell. Alan was born in New Haven on February 23, 1945 a son of the late Robert and Dorothy Watson Purcell. Prior to his retirement he was a claims adjuster for the Response Insurance Co. and also worked for the General Accident Insurance Co. for 40 years. He was an Army veteran.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80), East Haven Thursday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call THURSDAY MORNING from 8:30-10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. I was Al's neighbor from 2010 until 2017 and he was not only my friend but family. He became like a grandfather who looked after me, because I had lost mine in 2009. I love the entire family and my heart goes out to everyone. I could not ask for a better neighbor who else would feed four cats for 8 days straight sometimes? Al always had a smile on his face and loved life. When I got married Al also became a great friend to my husband Matt. I am really going to miss him and can't show my thanks enough for always being there when my husband and I needed him. We love you and miss you already!
