ALBERT PODHEISER Obituary

PODHEISER, ALBERT Albert Podheiser, 84, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home. He was the husband of the late Rita Saslow Podheiser. Albert was born in New Haven on June 5, 1930; son of the late Isadore and Tillie Jupiter Podheiser; served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the co-owner of the former New Haven Lumber Company. Father of Lauren (Rico) Gattilia and Ira (Amy) Podheiser. Grandfather of Joseph Gattilia and Victoria Podheiser. Also survived by his longtime companion Eunice Goldfield. Brother of the late Anna and Julius Podheiser, and Clarice Alderman. Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday afternoon at 2:00. Interment will follow in B’nai Jacob Memorial Park. A period of mourning will be observed at Albert’s home, 835 Mix Avenue, Hamden, Apt. 403 on Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 8 pm. We will miss Al very much. He was a great friend to my late father so many years ago, and it was so nice to connect with him again later in life as part of our extended family when he'd visit on the holidays with my aunt. He was a master of meaningful conversation, be it politics, family, history or The Three Stooges. May his memory be a blessing.
