Entered into rest on November 22, 2023, Alphonse Casanova, 81, of East Haven. Father of Alphonse Casanova Jr. (Maria). Brother of Joyce Clemente (Lawrence), Linda Varriale (Dominic) and Louis Casanova Jr. (Eva). Also survived by his sister-in-law Susan Casanova and several grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother, John Casanova; his step-mother, Grace Sullo Casanova; and his step-father, Nino Bertini.
Born in New Haven on January 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Louis (Slim) and Phyllis Villano Casanova. Prior to retirement he worked as a hairdresser for Princess Hair Salon before owning Hair at Last in Woodbridge. He then began a career in commercial real estate, which resulted in traveling and working in Hawaii and Manhattan before returning to the New Haven area. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Men's Society. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 592 CHAPEL ST. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Michael McGivney Parish in St. Michael Church. Meet directly at Church. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum, North Haven.
