I will always remember Cousin Andy (actually my Dad's cousin) for three things: His love of family, his selfless commitment to the community and his devotion to Our Lord.

One of earliest my memories of Andy was from when I was just a child. Andy was the one who stayed beside me and provided comfort at my Grandfather's (his Uncle's) funeral. When I became an adult and moved away, Andy always seemed to beat me to the punch to call me during the holidays and wish me a "Merry Christmas." Even more important to me, however, was that he always checked on my Grandmother and my Mom (after the deaths of my Grandfather and my Dad).

As a public servant, his dedication was unparalleled. Although he was not in it for the recognition, Andy's 41 years of service as a New Haven firefighter did not go unnoticed. He is considered a legend to me and many in the New Haven community. Personally, he was one of the people in my life who inspired me to a career in public service.

As a devout Catholic, Andy lived the words of Jesus Christ by loving both God and his neighbor with every fiber of his being. He was such a good and decent person.

Andy was one in a million. The world has been better with Andy's life in it. It was a life well spent and I am thankful to have been a part of it.

Our deepest condolences to Andy's love Barbara and to all his friends whose lives Andy has touched. He will be deeply missed.

My condolences to Andy's family and friends. We both entered the NHFD in1970. We were both raised in the Wooster Street Italian neighborhood. He was my friend, co-worker, a dedicated Firefighter throughout his career, and well respected by all. May he Rest In Peace.
