Andrew Kovacs Obituary

KOVACS, ANDREW Andrew Kovacs, 61, of North Haven, beloved husband of Brenda (Alexander) Kovacs, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Andrew was born in Bridgeport: son of the late Andrew and Anna (Nazarijchuk) Kovacs, Sr. He was a postal worker; an avid gardener; enjoyed the New York Yankees and UCONN Girls and Boys Basketball; was an avid reader and loved family gatherings and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Andrew is the devoted father of Heather (Kovacs) Miles and her husband Jeff of Middletown; Kristen (Kovacs) Burr and her husband Brian of Wallingford, Amanda Kovacs and her fianc Jonathan Wetmore of Derby. He is also the step-father of Eric Pantalone of Cincinnati, OH and Melissa (Pantalone) Waldo and her husband Kenneth of Orange. He is the loving grandfather of Cameron, Andrew and Haley Miles; Alex, Kelsey and Talan Burr; Benjamin and Sophie Pantalone, and Tyler Waldo. Andrew is survived by his brother, Stephen Kovacs of Darien; his sisters, Carol Flathers, and her husband Richard of Ansonia and Mary Kovacs of Westport. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 pm. Sometimes just the mention of someone's name brings a smile to your face. It was that way with Andy. I was lucky enough to work with both Andy and his wonderful wife Brenda. To his family and friends, I hope that warm memories bring you comfort.

It has been quite a while since I saw Andy. Last time I saw him it was in the East Haven Post office. We worked together for many years. He will be missed. RIP Andy.
