CASTALDI, ANTHONY M., SR.
Anthony M. Castaldi, Sr. (Tony, Mr. C.), 86, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at St. Raphael's with his children by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine Baldo Castaldi. Tony was born in New Haven on April 24, 1934 and was the son of the late Michael and Elvira Apicella Castaldi. He worked as a machinist, tool maker, and engineer; owned AAA Awards and retired as a teacher at the Eli Whitney Technical High School. Tony enjoyed cooking and taste-testing, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, loved going to the beach, especially vacationing in Florida. He also volunteered as a fireman for the Allingtown Fire Department. Tony was a devoted Catholic and proud of his Italian heritage. He was very involved with the family business, Venice Bakery in Hamden. Tony was a well-loved man who's bright, funny personality and unselfish acts of kindness touched the lives of friends and family. He loved spending time with his family. They Are His Whole World. Loving father of Elvira "Ellie" Sullivan, Michael Castaldi, Bruno (Doreen) Castaldi, Elizabeth "Lizz" (Michael) SanGiovanni, and Anthony (Lisa) Castaldi Jr. Beloved grandfather of Jason, Ryan, Michael Jr., Janene, Shannon, Jesse, Nikolas, Gianna, Gabriella, Anthony III, and Amanda. Great-grandfather of Joshua, Jasmine, Tyler, Rory, Sloane, Connor, Brooklyn, and Delaney. Brother-in-law of John and June Baldo. Also survived by five nieces and nephews. The visiting hours will be Monday, Feb. 8th at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 4 to 8 p.m.. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday morning, Feb. 9th at 10:00 to St. Louis Church of Saint John XXIII Parish, West Haven for the celebration of a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00. Interment will follow in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. (Masks and social distancing strictly required for all services) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus House, Inc., 586 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven, CT 06519.
