ANTHONY SALVATI Obituary

SALVATI, ANTHONY P., JR. Anthony P. Salvati Jr. of East Haven passed away December 30, 2014 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Carlis Salvati. Anthony was born in New Haven February 24, 1932, son of the late Anthony P. and Winifred Lombardi Salvati Sr. and was a proud US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for the New Haven Public School System and later for the Electrolux Co. Anthony was a member of American Legion Post 89 in East Haven. He is the father of Linda (Anthony) Davis, Cheryl (Daryl) Bureau, Pamela Smith, Eileen (Butch) Metzler, Diane (Brandt) Stoddard, Kimberly Francis, and Cynthia (Jack Rockwell Jr), Anthony III (Joanne), and Jeffrey Salvati. Brother of Patricia Montefusco, and the late Christine Del’Aquilla, Mary DeMatteo, Dorothy Francis, Winifred Mead, and Augustine Salvati. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his companion, Melinda DiVicino, daughter-in-law, Laurie LaPorte, and special niece, Jean Giglio. We’re thankful and blessed to have our dad in our lives. He had a kind heart and was thoughtful to all who needed him. He always put his family first. What we will miss the most is his singing, stories and sense of humor. Also his courage to endure the pain and suffering without once complaining. He’s our hero. We aren’t saying goodbye daddy, but saying, so short .... Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME INC. 11 Wooster Place Monday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10. Burial with military honors in East Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3-6:30pm. Sign Anthony’s guest book online at www.iovanne.com

I remember the love that you had for your family. The struggles that you and Mary had to go through raising nine kids like you did.
I have seen you work 3 jobs just to put food on the table. I would see you leave for work at 530 in the morning and not pull into your driveway untill 11 at night. What else I noticed was how respectful your kids were. That comes from a good family life. You kids should be proud of how your Mom and Dad raised you and how hard they had to work so you kids didn't go with out. I only hope someday when I am gone that my kids would remember the sacrifices that parents make for their kids. Saddly we only know it when they are gone.
So all I want to say to Tony's family is be kind to each other. Laugh with each other and love one another. Life goes by so quickly and I too am old now and soon it will be my turn for my kids to mourn for my loss. I hope they look to the heaves and smile because I will be smiling back at you. Gob Bless you all and may Jesus watch over you
