Anthony Sapio Obituary

SAPIO, ANTHONY F. Anthony F. Sapio, 67, of San Antonio, FL, passed away January 3, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen; his daughters, Geralyn, Stefanie, and Pamela; his son-in-law, Keith; his three grandsons, Jacob, Anthony, and Samuel; his sister, Sandy; and his golden retriever, Abby. Together we mourn his passing but celebrate a life well lived, the life of an extraordinary man who taught us all to love deeply, laugh often, and be thankful always for the gift of family. He had many names: Tony, Skip, Daddy, but his greatest joy was in being called "Poppy". With his family he shared his truest loves - traveling this vast and beautiful country, hunting and fishing in its wildest spaces, golfing amid its unspoiled coasts, and always keeping an eye on the far horizon of space. He was an avid New York Giants fan and shared a love of sports with his children and his grandchildren. To all of us, he was both a compass and a companion on this never-ending journey we call life, and we find peace knowing he will be with us always. A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. "...but now and again there's a moment when the heart cries aloud: yes, I am willing to be that wild darkness, that long, blue body of light." - Mary Oliver. Eileen,

Even though we have not been in touch, Steve and I got the shocking news of Skip's passing by Anita Catardi, who lost her husband this year. We both wish you heartfelt sympathy and hope your family will know we will always think of Skip with fond memories.
