Bohdan (Danny) Sowa, 74, of East Haven and Branford, passed away peacefully August 22, 2024, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Ella Smith Sowa. Bohdan was born April 6, 1950, son of the late John and Mary Husak Sowa. Mr. Sowa was a graduate of East Haven High School and attended New Haven College. He was employed by the Knights of Columbus and the State of Connecticut in the tax office. Mr. Bohdan Sowa was a great participant and supporter of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and Ukrainian national events. Bohdan was a lifelong member of the Ukrainian Scout association SUMA in New Haven and New England. He was a consultant to the Ukrainian Self Reliance Credit Union (now the Chicago Self Reliance Credit Union) in Hartford and was also a member of the St. Andrew Apostle Society, St. Mary Magdalene Society and the Campania Club.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George St., New Haven on Friday, September 27th, at 10:00 AM. A private Panachyda service and interment with his wife, Ella, will take place at a later date. The Celentano Funeral Home is proud to be caring for the arrangements of their dear friend.

I´m so sorry to hear this. I would have thought someone would have told me since I was one of his few family members. Uncle Danny was kind and loving man. His faith was strong. I know he has been reunited with my Auntie Ella. Rip uncle Danny I love you!!
